We've all had 'em....

...those sprawling late night conversations, that spirtiual high, that answered prayer, that moment after reading a great article when you realize your mind will be permanently blown and changed. These moments are truly incredible and, at times, vital for our faith life, because, the other side of the coin is sometimes fairly bleak.

On that other side, we also have those lukewarm periods, those doubtful days, those complacent mindsets. And at times, we may even find ourselves asking "WHY?" Why Catholicism?

Well, that's what The Salty Catholic is all about. While we all love a good practical blog, this isn't a "how-to" blog, but rather a "why-to" blog. Rather than addressing how to become a picture-perfect Catholic, we are asking ourselves, you, and the world...  Why on earth do we even want to be Catholic?

I'll tell you! Because being Catholic is badass and absolutely fantastic, but we all need that reminder at times. We need some inspiration. And we need to help one another along the way. So that's what The Salty Catholic is here for.

We are eager to document your passion, your brilliant revelations, your life-changing experiences. Sometimes when we read an article, hear a talk etc., we want to shout it to the world, but we don't know how to share it with a broad audience. And it's more than just passing on a link or video, it's about your story and your ability to relate to others. You don't need to write a book or become famous, because the world needs to get excited NOW. The world needs to hear your revelations NOW. So, this blog is yours. We offer a platform and an outlet for you, yes YOU, to change the world NOW. Because, at the end of the day, we are meant to do that. We are meant to make a statement. And, we are meant to be so obviously Catholic, that people don't even need to ask, they can just tell!

Matthew Warner  says,  " When the world sees you, they don’t have to see a saint, but at least let them see a sinner set on sainthood. We shouldn’t need to tell people we’re Catholic. They should smell it in our sweat.

IN OUR SWEAT!
Sweat comes from striving and hard work.
We need to start working hard together.
We need to sweat in our pursuit of Christ.
In that sweat, we find salt.
Salt adds a grit & depth to our desire.
Salt adds flavor to a possibly bland faith life.
Salt means sass.
And if we are committed to being intense, sass-filled, no-nonsense Catholics,
we WILL be saints.
And isn't that what we should be striving for?

A Lenten reflection said the fastest way to becoming the person you want to be is to simply BE that person now. So, if we want to be saints, if we want to be Catholic, if we want to be happy, do it now. Be those things now.

And I don't want these things merely for myself, but I truly want them for my friends, every member of the church, and for
you. I want you to be a saint with me in Heaven.
I invite you to join me in that journey,
and I invite you to inspire others along that journey,
right here on this blog.

It's time we show the world what Catholics are all about.
It's time we remind one another what being Catholic is truly about.

It's time to
Be the GRIT. BE the FLAVOR. BE a SAINT.

Stay on the Salty Side
